How to Use a Motorcycle Intercom for a Rider and Passenger

Why Use an Intercom When Riding with a Passenger?

You’re riding with a passenger and need to ask, “Are you comfortable?” or warn them about a turn—but wind and engine noise swallow your words. You end up shouting, repeating yourself, or waiting until you stop. Even simple things, like confirming the next turn, asking for a break, or letting your passenger know you’re slowing down, become harder than they should be.

A helmet intercom lets you speak to each other while riding, without having to shout or wait until you stop. Keep conversations brief and always put safe riding first.

How Does It Work?

Each person wears a compatible intercom headset in their own helmet. Once the two headsets are connected, you can talk through the built-in speakers and microphones. With ASMAX F1s or S1, you can use voice commands to set up the connection, so you do not have to remember a long sequence of button presses.

Connect Two ASMAX Headsets

Set up the connection while parked, with both headsets switched on and close to each other.

1. Say “Hi Max.” Wait for the headset to respond with “OK.”

2. When the headset replies “OK,” say “Group Mesh.” This is for creating the group for the first time.

3. When you hear “Join 2 or N Members,” press the intercom button once on just one headset to confirm the group.

On your next ride

Say “Hi Max,” wait for the headset to reply “OK,” then say “Group Mode.” You do not need to create the group again.

Want to use the open channel instead?

Say “Hi Max,” wait for the headset to reply “OK,” then say “Free Mode.” No extra button confirmation is needed.

Can You Share Music with Your Passenger?

Yes. Music Sharing is designed for a rider and passenger. First connect the two headsets and select Group Mode. Then open the ASMAX WORLD App, enter the corresponding chat room, and tap Share Music to start or stop sharing.

Set up and test the connection and music sharing while parked. Do not adjust the app while riding.

F1s or S1: Which Should You Choose?

The ASMAX F1s goes beyond basic group chat: riders can say “Hi Max” to use offline voice commands, talk over Mesh, or connect up to 50 riders through CloudTalk using a network connection—even when some riders use other intercom brands. ASMAX MODE combines Mesh and network communication to help keep groups connected as riding conditions change.

For a more affordable option, the ASMAX S1 also offers smart communication features, making it a practical choice for riders getting their first intercom.

A useful gift for commuters and solo riders, too—not just group tours. Check the recipient’s helmet fit and how they plan to connect with riding partners before buying.
